A Washing Machine that Consumes Only a Cup of Water - ECO TREES
An environment-friendly washing machine developed by the researchers at the University of Leeds, Britain, that is able to wash a complete load using just one cup of water, could be released on the market next year. Using only a small amount of water and detergent, the machine heats water and converts it into water vapor necessary for the beads to work. The beads remove stains, and once the cycle is finished, they fall through a mesh in the machine’s drum and can be used over a hundred times. The new washing machine consumes with 10% less water compared to conventional washing machines and with 30% less electricity. For the beginning, Xeros, the company behind this technology will start to sell the machine to the commercial consumers. Xeros has entered a partnership with GreenEarth Cleaning to sell this eco washing machine in North America. The technology was developed by professor Stephen Burkinshaw from Leeds University and funded by the IP Group. Source: Ecofriend
