Johnson Cleaners named in Best Green Companies list
20 June 2011
The Sunday Times has named Johnson Cleaners as one of the UK’s 60 Best Green Companies for the second successive year. The company rose to 42 on the list from 45 last year in recognition of its environmental performance, increased recycling, improved staff awareness and its success in reducing gas and electricity use since 2007.
Johnson Cleaners further reduced its carbon footprint by 10%, reduced its plastic hanger usage by a further 18% and had 160,000 people subscribe to its “Go Paper Free” programme in the past 12 months.
The company is also continuing with its £6million programme to convert all 500 branches in England, Scotland and Wales to eco-friendly GreenEarth cleaning technology by 2012.
Paul Ogle, Johnson Cleaners managing director, said: “To be named for the second consecutive year in the Sunday Times top 60 Best Green Companies is a fantastic achievement and is a testament to how seriously we take our environmental responsibilities.”
